This Nemadji Abstract Swirl Pottery Vase will add some playful Southwest vibes to your home. It's not your ordinary vase - it's a quirky and eye-catching creation. In fact, it was originally marketed as "Nemadji Indian pottery" and sold as souvenirs during the 20th century. These swirled pieces were made using simple house paint by the Minnesota-based Nemadji Tile & Pottery Co. and were a popular choice for 70 years before production ended in 2001. This is all thanks to a technique developed by Danish immigrant Eric Hellman in the 1920s. Each vessel was dipped in a vat of water, paint, and vinegar until the color adhered, then pulled out in a twisting motion to render a singular swirly finish.
